30. Ventilation

Total ventilation (VT, minute ventilation) is the total gas flow into the lungs per minute. It is equal to the tidal volume (VT) x the respiratory rate (n). Total ventilation is the sum of dead space ventilation and alveolar ventilation.

Anatomic dead space is equivalent to the volume of the conducting airways (150 mL in normal individuals), i. e., the trachea and bronchi up to and including the terminal bronchioles. Gas exchange does not occur here. Physiologic dead space is the volume of the respiratory tract that does not participate in gas exchange. It includes the anatomic dead space and partially functional or nonfunctional alveoli (e. g., because of a pulmonan embolus preventing blood supply to a region of alveoli). In normal individuals, anatomic and physiologic dead space are approximately equal. Physiologic dead space can greatly exceed anatomic dead space in individuals with lung disease.

Dead space ventilation is the gas flow into dead space per minute. Alveolar ventilation is the gas flow entering functional alveoli per minute.

Alveolar ventilation: It is the single most important parameter of lung function. It cannot be measured directly. It must be adequate for removal of the CO 2 produced by tissue metabolism whereas the partial pressure of inspired O 2 is 150 mmHg, the partial pressure of O 2 in the alveoli is typically 100 mmHg because of the displacement of O 2 with CO 2. PAo2 cannot be measured directly.

Íåäàâíèå ýêñïåðèìåíòû àìåðèêàíñêèõ èññëåäîâàòåëåé îòêðûâàþò íîâûå ãîðèçîíòû: âïåðâûå óäàëîñü íàáëþäàòü ìèêðîñêîïè÷åñêèå èçìåíåíèÿ â êîíòàêòíîé çîíå ðàçëîìîâ, êîòîðûå ïðåäøåñòâóþò çåìëåòðÿñåíèþ. Ãðóïïà ïîä ðóêîâîäñòâîì Ñèëüâåíà Áàðáîòà îáíàðóæèëà, ÷òî "ðåàëüíàÿ ïëîùàäü êîíòàêòà" - ó÷àñòêè, ãäå ïîâåðõíîñòè ðàçëîìà äåéñòâèòåëüíî ñîïðèêàñàþòñÿ - èçìåíÿåòñÿ çà ìèëëèñåêóíäû äî âûñâîáîæäåíèÿ íàêîïëåííîé ýíåðãèè. "Ìû îòêðûëè îêíî â ñåðäöå ìåõàíèêè çåìëåòðÿñåíèé", - îòìå÷àåò Áàðáîò. Ýòè èçìåíåíèÿ ïîçâîëÿþò ôèêñèðîâàòü ýòàïû çàðîæäåíèÿ ñåéñìè÷åñêîãî ñîáûòèÿ åùå äî ïîÿâëåíèÿ òðàäèöèîííûõ ñåéñìè÷åñêèõ âîëí. Ìóçûêà êàê åñòåñòâåííûé àíàëüãåòèê 30.11.2025

Ó÷åíûå âñå àêòèâíåå èññëåäóþò íåìåäèêàìåíòîçíûå ñïîñîáû îáëåã÷åíèÿ áîëè. Îäíèì èç ïåðñïåêòèâíûõ íàïðàâëåíèé ñòàíîâèòñÿ èñïîëüçîâàíèå ìóçûêè, êîòîðàÿ ñïîñîáíà âîçäåéñòâîâàòü íà ýìîöèîíàëüíîå ñîñòîÿíèå è êîãíèòèâíîå âîñïðèÿòèå áîëè. Óæå ïîñëå ýòîé êîðîòêîé ñåññèè âðà÷è ôèêñèðîâàëè çàìåòíîå óìåíüøåíèå èíòåíñèâíîñòè áîëè êàê â ñîñòîÿíèè ïîêîÿ, òàê è ïðè äâèæåíèÿõ. Àâòîðû èññëåäîâàíèÿ ïîä÷åðêèâàþò, ÷òî ìóçûêà íå óñòðàíÿåò ñàìó ïðè÷èíó áîëè. Àëêîãîëü ìîæåò ïðèâåñòè ê ñëîáîóìèþ 29.11.2025

Ïðîáëåìà âëèÿíèÿ àëêîãîëÿ íà ñòàðåþùèé ìîçã äàâíî âûçûâàåò èíòåðåñ êàê ó âðà÷åé, òàê è ó èññëåäîâàòåëåé êîãíèòèâíîãî ñòàðåíèÿ.  ïîñëåäíèå ãîäû ñòàëî î÷åâèäíî, ÷òî ãðàíèöû "áåçîïàñíîãî" óïîòðåáëåíèÿ ñïèðòíîãî ðàçìûâàþòñÿ, è íîâîå êðóïíîå èññëåäîâàíèå, ïðîâåäåííîå ìåæäóíàðîäíîé ãðóïïîé ó÷åíûõ, âíîâü óêàçûâàåò íà ýòî. Ðàáîòû Îêñôîðäñêîãî óíèâåðñèòåòà, âûïîëíåííûå ñîâìåñòíî ñ èññëåäîâàòåëÿìè èç Éåëüñêîãî è Êåìáðèäæñêîãî óíèâåðñèòåòîâ, ïîêàçûâàþò: äàæå íåáîëüøèå äîçû àëêîãîëÿ ñïîñîáíû óñêîðÿòü êîãíèòèâíûé ñïàä. Êîìàíäà ïðîàíàëèçèðîâàëà äàííûå áîëåå ÷åì 500 òûñÿ÷ ó÷àñòíèêîâ èç áðèòàíñêîãî áèîáàíêà è àìåðèêàíñêîé Ïðîãðàììû ìèëëèîíîâ âåòåðàíîâ. Äîïîëíèòåëüíî áûë âûïîëíåí ìåòààíàëèç ñîðîêà ïÿòè èññëåäîâàíèé, â îáùåé ñëîæíîñòè âêëþ÷àâøèõ ñâåäåíèÿ î 2,4 ìèëëèîíà ÷åëîâåê. Ñëó÷àéíàÿ íîâîñòü èç Àðõèâà

Îòêðûòà íîâàÿ ôîðìà êèñëîðîäà 09.09.2023

Ó÷åíûå èç Òîêèéñêîãî òåõíîëîãè÷åñêîãî èíñòèòóòà îáíàðóæèëè äâà íîâûõ èçîòîïà êèñëîðîäà, êîòîðûå âûçûâàþò ñîìíåíèÿ â íàøåì ïðåäñòàâëåíèè î ñòðóêòóðå è ñòàáèëüíîñòè àòîìíîãî ÿäðà. Ýòè èçîòîïû, êèñëîðîä-27 è êèñëîðîä-28, èìåþò íàèáîëüøåå êîëè÷åñòâî íåéòðîíîâ ñðåäè èçâåñòíûõ èçîòîïîâ êèñëîðîäà.

Êèñëîðîä-28, êîòîðûé ñîäåðæèò 20 íåéòðîíîâ â ñâîåì ÿäðå, îæèäàëñÿ ñòàáèëüíûì, íî îêàçàëñÿ íåîæèäàííî íåóñòîé÷èâûì. Ýòî îòêðûòèå âûçûâàåò âîïðîñû î ïðèíÿòûõ ïðåäñòàâëåíèÿõ î "ìàãè÷åñêèõ" ÷èñëàõ ïðîòîíîâ è íåéòðîíîâ â àòîìíûõ ÿäðàõ, êîòîðûå, êàê ñ÷èòàëîñü, îáåñïå÷èâàþò ñòàáèëüíîñòü.

Èññëåäîâàíèå ïðîâîäèëîñü íà RIKEN Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory, ãäå ó÷åíûå èñïîëüçîâàëè óñêîðèòåëü öèêëîòðîííîãî òèïà äëÿ ñîçäàíèÿ íåñòàáèëüíûõ èçîòîïîâ.  ðåçóëüòàòå ýêñïåðèìåíòà îáà íîâûõ èçîòîïà êèñëîðîäà îêàçàëèñü íåñòàáèëüíûìè è ðàñïàäàëèñü íà êèñëîðîä-24 è íåñêîëüêî ñâîáîäíûõ íåéòðîíîâ âñåãî ëèøü ÷åðåç êðàòêèé ïðîìåæóòîê âðåìåíè.

Îñîáåííî èíòåðåñíî, ÷òî êèñëîðîä-28, ñ 20 íåéòðîíàìè, ðàñõîäèëñÿ ñ òåîðåòè÷åñêèìè ïðåäñòàâëåíèÿìè î ñòðóêòóðå àòîìíûõ ÿäåð è ìàãè÷åñêèõ ÷èñëàõ, êîòîðûå ñ÷èòàëèñü êëþ÷åâûìè äëÿ ñòàáèëüíîñòè. Ýòè íîâûå îòêðûòèÿ áóäóò òðåáîâàòü äîïîëíèòåëüíûõ èññëåäîâàíèé è ïåðåñìîòðà íàøèõ ñóùåñòâóþùèõ ïðåäñòàâëåíèé î ÿäåðíîé ôèçèêå.
