The anatomical structures that play a central role in the res piratory system are located in the head and neck as well as the thorax.

Nasal cavities are separated by the nasal septum, which consists of the vomer, the perpendicular plate of the ethmoid bone, and the septal cartilage. The lateral wall of each nasal cavity features three scroll-shaped bony structures called the nasal conchae. The nasal cavities communicate posteriorly with the nasopharynx through the choanae. The spaces inferior to each concha are called meatus. The paranasal sinuses and the nasolacrimal duct open to the meati. The inferior concha is a separate bone, and the superior and middle conchae are parts of the ethmoid bone.

Inferior meatus. The only structure that opens to the inferior meatus is the nasolacrimal duct. This duct drains lacrimal fluid (i. e., tears) from theTneaTaraspect of the orbit to the nasal cavity.

Middle meatus: the hiatus semilumaris contains openings of frontal and maxillary sinuses and americy ethmoidal air cells. The bulla ethmoidalis contains the opening for'the middle ethmoidal air cells.

Superior meatus contains an opening for thffposterior ethmoidal air cells.

Sphenoethmoidal recess is located above the superior concha and contains an opening for the sphenoid sinus.

Innervation: Somatic innervation. General sensory information from the lateral wall and septum of the nasal cavity is conveyed to the CNS by branches of V, and V2.

Autonomic innervation. Preganglionic parasympathetic fibers destined to supply the glands of the nasal mucosa and the lacrimal gland travel in the nervus intermedius and the greater superficial petrosal branches of the facial nerve (CN VII). These fibers synapse in the pte-rygopalatine ganglion, which is located in the pterygopalatine fossa. Postganglionic fibers traveling to the mucous glands of the nasal cavity, paranasal air sinuses, hard and soft palate, and the lacrimal gland follow branches of V2 and in some cases V1, to reach their destinations.

Ðàáîòû ïî ñîçäàíèþ õèìåð - îðãàíèçìîâ, ñîñòîÿùèõ èç ãåíåòè÷åñêè ðàçíîðîäíûõ êëåòîê - âåäóòñÿ íà ïðîòÿæåíèè ïðèìåðíî ïîëóòîðà äåñÿòèëåòèé. Ó÷åíûå õîòÿò äîáèòüñÿ âîçìîæíîñòè âûðàùèâàòü ïîëíîöåííûå îðãàíû, êîòîðûå çàòåì ìîæíî áûëî áû ïåðåñàæèâàòü ÷åëîâåêó, è êîòîðûå áû íå îòòîðãàëèñü ïðè ïåðåñàäêå. Ïîìèìî ýòîãî, òàêèå ýêñïåðèìåíòû ìîãëè áû ïîçâîëèòü ïðîâîäèòü áîëåå áåçîïàñíûå èñïûòàíèÿ íîâûõ ëåêàðñòâåííûõ ïðåïàðàòîâ.  òî æå âðåìÿ, òàêèå äåéñòâèÿ ó÷åíûõ äîñòàòî÷íî îãðàíè÷åíû èç-çà äèñêóññèé îá èõ ýòè÷íîñòè.

 íîâîì ýêñïåðèìåíòå ó÷åíûå ñìîãëè óñïåøíî èìïëàíòèðîâàòü êëåòêè ÷åëîâåêà â çàðîäûøè îâöû â ñîîòíîøåíèè ïðèìåðíî 1 íà 10 òûñÿ÷ êëåòîê. Çàðîäûøè óñïåøíî ðàçâèâàëèñü â òå÷åíèå 28 äíåé (èç êîòîðûõ 21 äåíü îíè íàõîäèëèñü íåïîñðåäñòâåííî âíóòðè æèâîé îâöû) - êàê îòìå÷àþò áèîëîãè, ýòîãî ñðîêà äîñòàòî÷íî äëÿ ïîíèìàíèÿ òîãî, ÷òî îíè ìîãëè áû ðàçâèòüñÿ â ïîëíîöåííûé æèâîé îðãàíèçì. Ïîñëå ýòîãî ýêñïåðèìåíò áûë ïðåêðàùåí ïî ýòè÷åñêèì ñîîáðàæåíèÿì.

Êëåòêè ÷åëîâåêà áûëè âíåäðåíû â çàðîäûøè îâöû ñ ïîìîùüþ òåõíîëîãèè CRISPR/Cas9 - îíà ïîçâîëÿåò íàïðàâëåííî ìåíÿòü îòäåëüíûå ãåíû â êëåòêàõ îðãàíèçìà.

Àâòîðû ðàáîòû ïîä÷åðêèâàþò, ÷òî ïîêà îñòàåòñÿ íåÿñíûì, êàê èìåííî ÷åëîâå÷åñêèå êëåòêè ìîãóò ïîâëèÿòü íà âíåøíèé âèä îâåö è íà ðàáîòó èõ íåðâíîé ñèñòåìû. Îíè âûðàçèëè ìíåíèå, ÷òî äëÿ ýòîãî íåîáõîäèì áîëåå ïðîäîëæèòåëüíûé ýêñïåðèìåíò, êîòîðûé áû äëèëñÿ íå ìåíåå 70 äíåé. Ïðè ýòîì ó÷åíûå ïîä÷åðêèâàþò, ÷òî â ëþáîì ñëó÷àå äëÿ âûðàùèâàíèÿ ïîëíîöåííîãî îðãàíà íåîáõîäèìî çíà÷èòåëüíî óâåëè÷èòü ÷èñëî ÷åëîâå÷åñêèõ êëåòîê - ñîîòíîøåíèå ñ êëåòêàìè æèâîòíîãî äîëæíî ñîñòàâëÿòü ïðèìåðíî îäèí ê ñòà.

Àíàëîãè÷íûé ýêñïåðèìåíò ïðîâîäèëñÿ â íà÷àëå 2017 ãîäà ñî ñâèíüÿìè. Çàðîäûøè òàêæå íîðìàëüíî ðàçâèâàëèñü íà ïðîòÿæåíèè 28 äíåé, ñîîòíîøåíèå ÷åëîâå÷åñêèõ è ñâèíûõ êëåòîê áûëî îêîëî 1 íà 100 òûñÿ÷. Ïîñëå ýòîãî èõ óäàëèëè èç òåëà ñâèíîìàòêè. Îâöû, ïî ìíåíèþ ó÷åíûõ, ÿâëÿþòñÿ áîëåå ïåðñïåêòèâíûìè äëÿ âûðàùèâàíèÿ ÷åëîâå÷åñêèõ îðãàíîâ, íåæåëè ñâèíüè, òàê êàê ýêñïåðèìåíòû ïîêàçàëè, ÷òî äëÿ óñïåøíîãî ñîçäàíèÿ õèìåðû íà îñíîâå îâöû íåîáõîäèìî íàìíîãî ìåíüøå ýìáðèîíîâ.
