The extensive chapter covers the major bones of the skeleton as well as their associated muscles and tendons. Blood suppfy and inner-vation are reviewed for each muscle group. Bones of the skull may be classified as belonging to the neurocranium (the portion of the skull that surrounds and protects the brain) or the viscerocranium (i. e., the skeleton of the face). Osteology: bones of the neurocranium: Frontal, Parietal, Temporal, Occipital, Ethmoid, Sphenoid.
Bones of the viscerocranium (surface): Maxilla, Nasal, Zygomatic, Mandible. Bones of the viscerocranium (deep): Ethmoid, Sphenoid, Vomer, Lacrimal, Palatine, Inferior nasal concha Articulations: Most skull bones meet at immovable joints called sutures. The sole exception is the temporomandibular joint, a synovial joint that has a hinge-gliding movement. The coronal suture is between the frontal and the parietal bones. The sagittal suture is between two parietal bones. The lambdoid suture is between the parietal and the occipital bones. The bregma is the point at which the coronal suture intersects the sagittal suture and is the site of the anterior fontanelle in an infant.
The lambda is the point at which the sagittal suture intersects the lambdoid suture and is the site of the posterior fontanelle in an infant. The pterion is the point on the lateral aspect of the skull where the greater wing of the sphenoid, parietal, frontal, and temporal bones converge. The temporomandibular joint is between the mandibular fossa of the temporal bone and the condylar process of the mandible.
The parotid gland is the largest of the salivary glands and has a dense connective tissue capsule. Structures found within the substance of this gland include the following: Motor branches of the facial nerve. CN VII enters the parotid gland after emerging from the stylomastoid foramen at the base of the skull. Superficial temporal artery and vein. The artery is a terminal branch of the external carotid artery.
External carotid artery: Retromandibular vein, which is formed from the maxillary and superficial temporal veins.
FACE: The muscles of facial expression are derived from the second pharyngeal arch and are supplied by motor branches of CN VII Òàáëèöà 2.

Great auricular nerve, which is a cutaneous branch of the cer vical plexus. Auriculotemporal nerve, which is a sensory branch of V3. It supplies the TMJ and conveys postganglionic parasympathetic fibers from the otic ganglion to the parotid gland. Parotid (Stensen's) duct, which enters the oral cavity at the level of the maxillary second molar. The facial artery is a branch of the external carotid artery in the neck. It terminates as the angular artery near the bridge of the nose. The facial vein parallels the course of the facial artery. It terminates by joining the anterior branch.

Êîììåð÷åñêàÿ àâèàöèÿ åæåãîäíî ðàñõîäóåò êîëîññàëüíûå îáúåìû êåðîñèíà, ÷òî ñêàçûâàåòñÿ íå òîëüêî íà áþäæåòå àâèàêîìïàíèé, íî è íà ñîñòîÿíèè îêðóæàþùåé ñðåäû.  2024 ãîäó ãëîáàëüíûå çàòðàòû íà àâèàöèîííîå òîïëèâî äîñòèãëè 291 ìèëëèàðäà äîëëàðîâ, è ýòà ñóììà ïðîäîëæàåò ðàñòè. ×òîáû ñïðàâèòüñÿ ñ ýòèìè âûçîâàìè, NASA àêòèâíî ðàáîòàåò íàä òåõíîëîãèÿìè, ñïîñîáíûìè çàìåòíî ïîâûñèòü àýðîäèíàìè÷åñêóþ ýôôåêòèâíîñòü ñàìîëåòîâ. Îáùåíèå ìåæäó ïîêîëåíèÿìè ïðèíîñèò ðàäîñòü âñåé ñåìüå, íî ìàëî êòî çàäóìûâàåòñÿ, íàñêîëüêî àêòèâíî áàáóøêè è äåäóøêè, çàáîòÿùèåñÿ î âíóêàõ, ïîääåðæèâàþò ñâîþ óìñòâåííóþ ôîðìó. Ðåãóëÿðíîå âçàèìîäåéñòâèå ñ äåòüìè ñòèìóëèðóåò ìîçã ïîæèëûõ ëþäåé, ïîìîãàÿ ñîõðàíÿòü ïàìÿòü, ñêîðîñòü ìûøëåíèÿ è îáùóþ êîãíèòèâíóþ àêòèâíîñòü.

Èññëåäîâàòåëè èç Òèëáóðãñêîãî óíèâåðñèòåòà â Íèäåðëàíäàõ ïðîâåëè àíàëèç, ÷òîáû ïîíÿòü, ïðèíîñèò ëè óõîä çà âíóêàìè ðåàëüíóþ ïîëüçó çäîðîâüþ ïîæèëûõ ëþäåé. Ñðåäèçåìíîå ìîðå, çíàìåíèòîå ñâîèìè êðèñòàëüíî ÷èñòûìè âîäàìè è æèâîïèñíûìè ïëÿæàìè, ñêðûâàåò ïîä ñîáîé ñîâñåì äðóãóþ êàðòèíó. Èññëåäîâàíèÿ, ïðîâåäåííûå ó÷åíûìè èç Óíèâåðñèòåòà Áàðñåëîíû, îáíàðóæèëè îäíó èç ñàìûõ âûñîêèõ êîíöåíòðàöèé ìîðñêîãî ìóñîðà â ãëóáîêîâîäíîé âïàäèíå Êàëèïñî, íà ãëóáèíå 5112 ìåòðîâ. Ýòà òî÷êà, ÿâëÿþùàÿñÿ ãëóáî÷àéøåé â Ñðåäèçåìíîì ìîðå, ðàíüøå ñ÷èòàëàñü ìåñòîì, ãäå ÷åëîâå÷åñêàÿ äåÿòåëüíîñòü íå ìîãëà íàíåñòè âðåäà.
Èññëåäîâàíèÿ ïðîâîäèëèñü ñ èñïîëüçîâàíèåì âûñîêîòåõíîëîãè÷íîé ïèëîòèðóåìîé ïîäëîäêè "Limiting Factor", êîòîðàÿ ïîçâîëèëà ó÷åíûì äîñòè÷ü äíà òðàíøåè Êàëèïñî. Çäåñü îíè îáíàðóæèëè øîêèðóþùóþ êàðòèíó çàãðÿçíåíèÿ - íà ìîðñêîì äíå áûëî íàéäåíî 167 îáúåêòîâ èñêóññòâåííîãî ïðîèñõîæäåíèÿ, ñðåäè êîòîðûõ ïëàñòèêîâûå ïàêåòû, êîíòåéíåðû äëÿ åäû, ñòàêàí÷èêè, âåðåâêè, ìåòàëëè÷åñêèå áàíêè, ñòåêëÿííûå áóòûëêè è áóìàæíûå êîðîáêè. Ýòè íàõîäêè äîêàçûâàþò, ÷òî äàæå ñàìûå îòäàëåííûå óãîëêè ìîðÿ íå çàñòðàõîâàíû îò âîçäåéñòâèÿ ÷åëîâå÷åñêîé äåÿòåëüíîñòè.
Çàãðÿçíåíèå â òàêîì óäàëåííîì ìåñòå, êàê Ãëóáèíà Êàëèïñî, ìîæåò èìåòü íåñêîëüêî èñòî÷íèêîâ. ×àñòü îòõîäîâ ïîïàäàåò òóäà èç ïðèáðåæíûõ ðàéîíîâ, ãäå ìóñîð ïåðåíîñèòñÿ ìîðñêèìè òå÷åíèÿìè. Äðóãîé ìóñîð ñáðàñûâàåòñÿ íåïîñðåäñòâåííî ñ ñóäîâ. Ïðîôåññîð Ìèêåëü Êàíàëüñ, îäèí èç àâòîðîâ èññëåäîâàíèÿ, îáúÿñíèë, ÷òî íåêîòîðûå îòõîäû, òàêèå êàê ïëàñòèê, ïîñòóïàþò ñ ïîáåðåæüÿ, íàõîäÿùåãîñÿ âñåãî â 60 êì îò âïàäèíû, è ìîãóò îñòàâàòüñÿ íà äíå, ïîêà íå ðàñïàäóòñÿ èëè íå áóäóò ïîõîðîíåíû.
Èññëåäîâàòåëè òàêæå íàøëè äîêàçàòåëüñòâà óìûøëåííîãî ñáðîñà ìóñîðà ñ ñóäîâ. "Ìû óâèäåëè, ÷òî îòõîäû ñáðàñûâàëèñü ñ ëîäîê, î ÷åì ñâèäåòåëüñòâóåò íàêîïëåíèå ðàçíûõ âèäîâ ìóñîðà, à òàêæå ïî÷òè ïðÿìîëèíåéíàÿ áîðîçäà íà ìîðñêîì äíå", - îòìåòèë ïðîôåññîð Êàíàëüñ.
Îñîáåííîñòè ãåîãðàôèè âïàäèíû Êàëèïñî ñïîñîáñòâóþò íàêîïëåíèþ ìóñîðà. Ãëóáîêîâîäíàÿ òðàíøåÿ èìååò êðóòûå ñêëîíû è ïëîñêîå äíî, ðàçìåðîì îêîëî 20 íà 5 êèëîìåòðîâ. Ýòè ïðèðîäíûå õàðàêòåðèñòèêè ñîçäàþò óñëîâèÿ, ïðè êîòîðûõ ìóñîð çàäåðæèâàåòñÿ è íå äâèæåòñÿ äàëüøå. Ñëàáûå òå÷åíèÿ íà ýòîé ãëóáèíå ñîñòàâëÿþò âñåãî îêîëî äâóõ ñàíòèìåòðîâ â ñåêóíäó, ÷òî äåëàåò åãî äîëãîâå÷íûì íà ìîðñêîì äíå.
Âïàäèíà Êàëèïñî äåéñòâóåò êàê åñòåñòâåííàÿ ëîâóøêà äëÿ ìóñîðà. Ýòî ìåñòî ñòàíîâèòñÿ ñâîåãî ðîäà êëàäáèùåì îòõîäîâ, êîòîðûå ïîïàäàþò òóäà è îñòàþòñÿ òàì íà íåîïðåäåëåííîå âðåìÿ.  ýòîì êîíòåêñòå, ïðîôåññîð Êàíàëüñ ïîä÷åðêèâàåò, ÷òî "ê ñîæàëåíèþ, ìîæíî ñ óâåðåííîñòüþ ñêàçàòü, ÷òî Ñðåäèçåìíîå ìîðå íå èìååò íè îäíîãî ÷èñòîãî óãîëêà".
Ýòî èññëåäîâàíèå íå ÿâëÿåòñÿ ïåðâûì ñâèäåòåëüñòâîì ïðîáëåìû çàãðÿçíåíèÿ ìîðñêîãî äíà. Åùå â 1975 ãîäó, ó÷åíûå îáíàðóæèëè ìóñîð íà ìîðñêîì äíå â ïðîëèâå Ñêàãåððàê â Ñåâåðíîé Àòëàíòèêå, ÷òî ïîäòâåðäèëî ìàñøòàáû ïðîáëåìû.
Ñðåäèçåìíîå ìîðå îñîáåííî óÿçâèìî ê çàãðÿçíåíèþ, è ýòî ñâÿçàíî ñ åãî ãåîãðàôè÷åñêèìè è ñîöèàëüíî-ýêîíîìè÷åñêèìè îñîáåííîñòÿìè. Ýòî çàìêíóòîå ìîðå, îêðóæåííîå ãóñòîíàñåëåííûìè ðåãèîíàìè ñ èíòåíñèâíûì ñóäîõîäñòâîì è ðûáîëîâñòâîì. Êàê îòìå÷àåò ïðîôåññîð Êàíàëüñ, èìåííî êîìáèíàöèÿ ýòèõ ôàêòîðîâ äåëàåò Ñðåäèçåìíîå ìîðå îñîáåííî âîñïðèèì÷èâûì ê ýêîëîãè÷åñêèì óãðîçàì.
