Íîâîå èññëåäîâàíèå, îïóáëèêîâàííîå â æóðíàëå JAMA Network Open, ïîêàçûâàåò, ÷òî áëèçîñòü ê ïðèðîäå íàïðÿìóþ ñâÿçàíà ñ êðåïîñòüþ êîñòåé ó äåòåé. Îäíàêî íåäàâíèå èññëåäîâàíèÿ ïîêàçàëè, ÷òî ïÿòíà âûïîëíÿþò è äðóãóþ âàæíóþ ôóíêöèþ - îíè ïîìîãàþò æèâîòíûì àäàïòèðîâàòüñÿ ê èçìåíåíèÿì òåìïåðàòóðû. Ìåæäóíàðîäíàÿ ãðóïïà ó÷åíûõ ïðîàíàëèçèðîâàëà äàííûå î âûæèâàåìîñòè áîëåå 800 æèðàôîâ â Òàíçàíèè â òå÷åíèå âîñüìè ëåò è îáíàðóæèëà, ÷òî ðàçìåð è ôîðìà ïÿòåí ìîãóò îêàçûâàòü çíà÷èòåëüíîå âëèÿíèå íà ïðèñïîñîáëåííîñòü ýòèõ æèâîòíûõ ê îêðóæàþùåé ñðåäå.
