Âûñîêîãîðíûå ðåãèîíû âñåãäà ïðèâëåêàëè âíèìàíèå èññëåäîâàòåëåé, èçó÷àþùèõ, êàê ÷åëîâåê àäàïòèðóåòñÿ ê æèçíè â óñëîâèÿõ ðàçðåæåííîãî âîçäóõà. Íåäàâíåå èññëåäîâàíèå ãðóïïû ó÷åíûõ èç Óíèâåðñèòåòà Ìàóíò-Ðîéàë â Êàíàäå, âîçãëàâëÿåìîå äîêòîðîì Òðåâîðîì Äååì, ïðîëèâàåò ñâåò íà âàæíóþ ðîëü ïî÷åê â àêêëèìàòèçàöèè ê áîëüøèì âûñîòàì. Ðàáîòû êàíàäñêèõ ó÷åíûõ îáúÿñíÿþò, ïî÷åìó ïðåäñòàâèòåëè íàðîäíîñòè øåðïà, êîòîðûå âåêàìè æèâóò â âûñîêîãîðíûõ ðàéîíàõ Òèáåòà, çíà÷èòåëüíî ëó÷øå ïåðåíîñÿò âûñîêîãîðüå.
 ñâîåì èññëåäîâàíèè ó÷åíûå íàáëþäàëè çà äûõàíèåì è ñîñòàâîì êðîâè ó÷àñòíèêîâ âî âðåìÿ èõ ïîäúåìà íà âûñîòó 4300 ìåòðîâ â Ãèìàëàÿõ, â Íåïàëå. Ýêñïåðèìåíò ïðîâîäèëñÿ ñ ó÷àñòèåì äâóõ ãðóïï: îäíà ñîñòîÿëà èç æèòåëåé íèçìåííîñòåé, íå ïðèâûêøèõ ê ãîðíîé ñðåäå, à äðóãàÿ - èç øåðïîâ, ÷åé îðãàíèçì ïðèñïîñîáëåí ê æèçíè íà áîëüøîé âûñîòå.

Àìåðèêàíñêàÿ êîìïàíèÿ Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) íàöåëåíà íà ñîçäàíèå ïåðâîé â ìèðå òåðìîÿäåðíîé ýëåêòðîñòàíöèè, ñïîñîáíîé ïîäêëþ÷àòüñÿ ê ýëåêòðè÷åñêîé ñåòè.
Ýòîò àìáèöèîçíûé ïðîåêò, èçâåñòíûé êàê ARC (Affordable, Robust, Compact), áóäåò ïîñòðîåí âáëèçè ãîðîäà Ðè÷ìîíä, øòàò Âèðäæèíèÿ.  ñîîòâåòñòâèè ñ ïëàíàìè, íîâàÿ ýëåêòðîñòàíöèÿ ñìîæåò ïðîèçâîäèòü äî 400 ìåãàâàòò ÷èñòîé ýíåðãèè, ÷òî âïîëíå õâàòèò äëÿ îáåñïå÷åíèÿ ýëåêòðè÷åñòâîì 150 òûñÿ÷ äîìîõîçÿéñòâ. Ïðîãíîçèðóåòñÿ, ÷òî ñòàíöèÿ íà÷íåò ðàáîòó â 2030-õ ãîäàõ.
Ïðèíöèï ðàáîòû òåðìîÿäåðíîé ýëåêòðîñòàíöèè îñíîâàí íà ïðîöåññå òåðìîÿäåðíîãî ñèíòåçà, êîòîðûé ïðîèñõîäèò â ÿäðå çâåçä.  îòëè÷èå îò òðàäèöèîííîé àòîìíîé ýíåðãåòèêè, ãäå èñïîëüçóåòñÿ äåëåíèå ÿäåð àòîìîâ ñ îáðàçîâàíèåì ðàäèîàêòèâíûõ îòõîäîâ, òåðìîÿäåðíûé ñèíòåç ñîçäàåò â êà÷åñòâå ïîáî÷íîãî ïðîäóêòà áåçîïàñíûé ãåëèé. Äëÿ òîãî ÷òîáû óäåðæèâàòü ïëàçìó ñ òåìïåðàòóðîé ñâûøå 100 ìèëëèîíîâ ãðàäóñîâ Öåëüñèÿ, óñòàíîâêà áóäåò èñïîëüçîâàòü ìîùíûå ìàãíèòíûå ïîëÿ.

Èññëåäîâàòåëè èç æåíñêîãî êîëëåäæà Øðè Íàðàÿíà â Êîëëàìå, Êåðàëà, Èíäèÿ, ðàçðàáîòàëè èííîâàöèîííûé ñïîñîá ïðîäëåíèÿ ñâåæåñòè ôðóêòîâ è îâîùåé. Ãðóïïà ïîä ðóêîâîäñòâîì Ïóðíèìû Âèäæàÿí ïðåäëîæèëà èñïîëüçîâàòü ñúåäîáíîå ïîêðûòèå, ñîçäàííîå íà îñíîâå öåëëþëîçíûõ íàíîâîëîêîí (CNF), ïîëó÷åííûõ èç ëóêîâîé øåëóõè. Ýòîò ïîäõîä íå òîëüêî ïðîäëåâàåò ñðîê õðàíåíèÿ ïðîäóêòîâ, íî è ñïîñîáñòâóåò èõ áåçîïàñíîñòè áëàãîäàðÿ âêëþ÷åíèþ íàíîêóðêóìèíà, èçâåñòíîãî ñâîèìè àíòèìèêðîáíûìè ñâîéñòâàìè.
Îñíîâíûì êîìïîíåíòîì ïîêðûòèÿ ÿâëÿþòñÿ CNF, ïîëó÷åííûå èç ïåðåðàáîòàííûõ îòõîäîâ ëóêà. Ýòè íàíîâîëîêíà ñîåäèíÿþòñÿ ñ ñèíòåòè÷åñêèì áèîïîëèìåðîì, êîòîðûé óëó÷øàåò ñòðóêòóðó ïîêðûòèÿ, óñòðàíÿÿ ïðîáëåìû ñ âîäîñòîéêîñòüþ è òåðìè÷åñêîé ñòàáèëüíîñòüþ, ðàíåå ñâîéñòâåííûå ìàòåðèàëàì íà îñíîâå CNF. Ýêçîñêåëåò ýòèõ "áîòîâ" ñîñòîèò èç ïîëíîñòüþ áèîðàçëàãàåìûõ ìàòåðèàëîâ - ñìåñè ìóêè è âîäû, êîòîðàÿ ïîñëå âûñûõàíèÿ ïîêðûâàåòñÿ ýòèëöåëëþëîçîé, ýêîëîãè÷åñêè ÷èñòûì áèîïîëèìåðîì. Óñèêè äëÿ HybriBot âçÿòû ó äèêîãî îâñà, à ùåòèíêè - òàêæå íàòóðàëüíûå. Âåñ êàæäîãî òàêîãî "áîòà" ñîñòàâëÿåò âñåãî 60 ìã.
Âî âðåìÿ èñïûòàíèé HybriBot óñïåøíî äîñòàâëÿë ñåìåíà òîìàòîâ, öèêîðèÿ è èâàí-÷àÿ â ðàçëè÷íûå òèïû ïî÷âû, âêëþ÷àÿ çåìëþ äëÿ êîìíàòíûõ ðàñòåíèé, ãëèíó è ïåñîê. Ðåçóëüòàòû ïîêàçàëè âûñîêóþ ýôôåêòèâíîñòü òåõíîëîãèè íà ðàçëè÷íûõ òèïàõ ãðóíòà.
Ýòà èííîâàöèîííàÿ ðàçðàáîòêà èìååò îãðîìíûé ïîòåíöèàë äëÿ ïðèìåíåíèÿ â ñåëüñêîì è ëåñíîì õîçÿéñòâå. Ó÷åíûå ïðåäïîëàãàþò, ÷òî â áóäóùåì òåõíîëîãèÿ ìîæåò áûòü èñïîëüçîâàíà äëÿ áûñòðîãî îçåëåíåíèÿ áîëüøèõ òåððèòîðèé è äàæå äëÿ òåðàôîðìèðîâàíèÿ äðóãèõ ïëàíåò, òàêèõ êàê Ìàðñ.
